David Sinaiko in Woyzeck by Georg Büchner

The Tamer Tamed
by John Fletcher
Directed by Lucia Scheckner
April 30

7pm Modern Times Bookstore 888 Valencia St.
You have been famous for a woman-tamer and bear the fear'd name of a brave wife-breaker, a woman now shall take those honors off and tame you." Twenty years after Shakespeare, John Fletcher wrote a response to The Taming of the Shrew in which Petruchio is tamed by his second wife. The Tamer Tamed continues what Shakespeare began -- a witty and provocative illustration of the power struggle between the sexes.

David Sinaiko in As You Like It by William Shakespeare

Ubu Roi
by Alfred Jarry
In a new translation by Rob Melrose
Directed by Sean Daniels
May 14

7pm, EXIT Café, 156 Eddy St.
Yes, this is the play that caused riots in Paris. Yes, this is the play that prompted Yeats to say, “After us, the Savage God!” We will attempt to rediscover this ground-breaking piece in a new translation that works to get beyond the initial shock of the first performance and capture the uncanny genius of Alfred Jarry.

The foolsFURY FURY FACTORY
APRIL 12 - 29

Three weeks of cutting edge ensemble theater! foolsFURY is proud to play host to a remarkable explosion of art. Join us as 14 companies from around the country bring you fierce visionary work that will shake up everything you know about “the Theatre”.

What’s the big fuss about “ensemble”? We strongly believe that much of the world’s finest theater is created by groups of artists working together collaboratively over long periods of time. At FURY Factory you’ll get to see many companies working this way, all part of a growing nationwide movement revolutionizing theater-making in America.

The corner of Mariposa and Florida will be transformed, as three (3!) theaters are filled with boundary pushing, vibrant, ensemble creation. Please take advantage of this rare opportunity.
